High Fire Danger in ADK

Not sure if I can include the link properly, but this latest warm and dry spell has raised the danger of fires.

It certainly feels more like late June here in St Lawrence Co this past week, and no rain at least for the next few days. It would be a nice time to be camping. We are starting to see a few bugs, but not too bad yet.

There was a multiple alarm brush fire in Mayfield at the south edge of the park last night. The woods down here are just as dry as can be.

I don't think we're going to see any rain for another few days, either.

We are headed to the ADK for 7-10 days next week. I'm hoping the hot weather will do in any black flies.

Would be nice for at least a bit of rain though.

Are the trees leafing up nicely? I'm in peak pollen (ie allergy) season here at home. Hoping I'm not miserable down there with the slightly later season! lol

Not a lot of pollen yet, but the trees are just leafing out this week. There were just buds everywhere a few days ago and now they're bursting into leaves everywhere.

Are you going to be at Northampton at all? I'd like to drop in for a chat if possible.

Hi Steve,

Yes Northampton Beach is one of our destinations on our camping/photo tour starting mid/late next week some time. Not sure which dates exactly yet or the order we do the trip. Weather dependant mostly (plus my allergies). Thats right! You are just down the road! Didn't realize that until now!

I'll let you know as soon as we know when we'll be at Northampton Beach.

Cheers!
