Remembering the 'WOOOOOD!' Truck Guy (Video)

Postby CampADK » Mon Jan 04, 2010 5:37 pm

Anyone (I'm sure) remember the old wood truck guy and his wife who delivered wood to campers up until approx 2007?

I had heard that he died after being pinned against a tree when his truck got stuck in a winter storm back in 2007 or 2008 perhaps. I should remember his (and her) names, but unfortunately my memory eludes me! Anybody help me out here. His wife also ran 'Grams Campstore' from this or another truck for a few years.

Video we took back in October 2004...

I believe that was a different guy that use to have an old black pickup. He originally served area specific treats (like buffalo wings) but they were Charcoal - Wood -Worms. Sad to see that guy go. He was nice and honest to deal with. I think he also sold ice at one time.

Charcoal, wood and worms... makes you wonder how some of these combinations of product came about :D

While on the topic, whats the current ice guys name (I am too forgetful). I always say he should raise his prices for his ice. How can you make a dime when you're selling it so cheap, yet have to pay for all that gas driving around the park and not selling a huge volume. Nice guy! He enjoys helping out the campers though.

Bob is the guy with the ice cooler in the back of his pickup truck. He's the one that sometimes has cheese bread and/or pepperoni bread. If he's got, get it! Good stuff!

Such a sad story! The wife would always give my dog a treat when she delivered wood. We always wondered what happened to them. Bob the ice guy is from NJ and told us he came up one year and never left. Very nice guy and his treats are indeed good.

That isn't the wood guy I remember. The guy I remember came in a pick up truck was older and moved about that fast and he had a metal thing he used to stack the wood in before dumping it into the wheel barrel. And when he dumped the wheel barrel I think he got a kick out of how big a mess he could make with the wood. I don't remember him being very pleasant either, maybe the folks on your video took over for him. They seem very organized.

I also remember being in a state campground (not sure if it was Fish Creek or Alleghany) but the wood truck was a gutted out school bus and the guy used to have it bundled in plastic shrink wrap. That guy had really good wood :).

Long time since I've been on here. Getting married and moving twice in 4 months will do that to you!

I remember this gentleman. We actually were discussing him this past summer. Is that what actually happened to him or is it something that you had heard. I would hate to hear that's how he died. What an awful way....
