Structures on NY30

A place for you to post memories you or your family remember from camping at Fish Creek over the years, as well as any other items of historical nature. Photos would be great too!

Structures on NY30

Postby C&S » Mon Jun 15, 2015 1:24 pm

I have always wondered about the structures on NY-30 just after you make the turn from Tupper Lake headed up towards Fish Creek. Old motel? The big a-frame building? Does anyone have any history on them? Thanks!

Sounds like you are referring to Bull Point. There use to be a small diner there and as you can see once a motel. Just north of that, a camp ground was set up with a bathhouse which is still there. There was swimming water access, docks and more trailer sites down the road on the opposite side of the road on Upper Saranac. I believe the original owner either retired or passed away (originally) and his children did not desire to continue the operation. They did have really good hamburgers there at one time. The A frame is a camp I believe of one of the decendents.

A little late to the discussion, but this postcard shows the old motel as it was when it was open for business:

Check with the county historian, they will more than likely have information on these.
