Northern Pike Heads on Trees...

Postby d_s_144 » Tue Jun 04, 2019 1:40 pm

I remember the first drive to the site after checking-in as a child, and seeing Pike heads nailed to trees all along the ponds. I guess everyone must have kept everything they caught back then, because it was a very popular activity, a kind of trophy display to reflect on the weeks catch. I've caught tons of pike in USL, but I've never kept one to eat. Well, to be fair, I don't eat fish so I don't keep ANY fish I catch, they all live to fight another day. So, either people don't catch/keep many anymore, or the C&R approach to fishing has finally set in up there. Either way, a vivid memory from my many years on these ponds.

Happy Camping!!!
