Re: Ride the rails

Nothing is in order. It starts with Racquet flow at the bridge (tupper lake) and you see McCauley pond, lake Colby, Lake Clear, Floodwood pond, Hole and Turtle ponds. There is a view as we approach Saranac lake where we got some looks stopping at the Pharmacy for the bake sale and to pick up some ea...

Re: Ride the rails

Another trip on the adirondack jigger. We were on it for 7 hours and burned only 1.5 gallons of gas. Rode it north to Saranac from lake Clear then south past Tupper to Mt Arab.

Re: Trying to keep Dave's slogan in mind today...

205 is a great site, nice and big. It is a bit of a step down to the water but a great swimming site. Been on that several times before. Bring your hummingbird feeder and place it on a branch near the water, you will get a bunch of them. After a couple days when you get a group of regulars go out th...

Re: Reserve America - Wrong Closing Date

Went around FC on Saturday with the Patty and counted 8 campers, beautiful day to run the hydro, just a slight chop and warm. Those campers were all chased out on Sunday because of the storm. My apologese to the kayaker for disturbing the peace, at least I did not make much of a wake. There were peo...

Re: Why You Should Keep Camping in a Tent!

Your big challenge is to get shots of the sites in Saranac Islands SP. Not all sites are islands but are mostly if not all boat access. If you do break down and try some tent camping there are two sites easily accessible by boat that are special. One is on the south west most island in Follensby on ...

Re: Campsite Photo Database Enhancements

They don't allow any program additions to the base set. I even need to use dreamweaver for my net tool (cumbersome but does what I need to do). Their tightness on computers is understandable since this place processes payroll information for many companies (Paychex Corp). At least home I have firefo...

Re: Reserve America - What am I doing wrong?

That will be a great tool for those who cannot book at 9 months in advance, also for those who find a several days open and are looking for an opportunity to camp. Wonder if it can be linked into an individuals favorite site list?

Re: Reserve America - What am I doing wrong?

It was the first time I did not get not only my first pick but any of my first 4 that were all available. Finally got someone elses discard (site 52) and when I went to pay the site crashed, lost that as well. If you loose on your first picks keep recycling available sites. FC has become more popula...

Re: Booked for July 2013!

Just noted a change in Reserve America for all you clickers out there. Tried several programs and got the same result. It does not matter if you are logged in or not after around 18 clicks to reserve a site (before the 9AM start time) the site will throw you to the sign in screen. If you attempt to ...

Re: CampADK Trip Report Columbus Day Weekend 2012

Tease! Oh that is soooooo nice, maybe someday. Will be up there on the weekend of the 27th for one last ride of the jigger this year. This time heading North to Saranac then all the way to Tupper and maybe on to Mt Arab lake. If there is some extra time I will put the Patty in for one last run aroun...

Re: Garbage boys

There are several garbage pits along that row for those who like collecting old bottles. Just need to be careful of where the old pit privys were, otherwise you may not get the surprise you were expecting.

Re: Water depth in Fish Creek outlet to Upper Saranac

I was marking 3 feet under my keel when going through the channel. That would mean there isn't much difference from normal. Stay towards the middle to the outside of the elbows for max depth. The one straight where Slo-Poke use to be would be the shallowest.

Re: Ride the rails

We went from Lake clear outlet (bridge scene) past Rollins to a blowdown about 1 mile. Next time I will bring a saw with me. There were a lot of people who wanted a ride. Wish I could have taken them all (met a group of cup scouts at floodwood station). The engine is a bit old (near 60) and runs bet...

Ride the rails

Built this out of scrap parts. Figured I have a short window to use it but what scenery!! Notice the track is all in place and there are even new ties and rails that have been added in the short distance I traveled on.
If it does not show up here is the link
