Re: Patches

When there next time you might take a look over at the Trading post or at Hickock's boat livery. I have seen them at both places from time to time.

Re: Kevin Kirsch Needs a New Boat!

Sure is a beauty. Think I could put it on top of my convertible to haul it up there? The real trick would be to find a place to store it at the house. Maybe I could work something out with Penn Central to load it on the rail speeder and bring it up on the tracks.

Re: Kayaking from Rollins pond to Fish Creek pond possible ?

There is a day use fee but you could always park at the follensby clear pond canoe access (just before the first stream you go over on the road heading North from fishcreek) and that is free (if you like some extra paddling). that is spider creek and head downstream into the ponds over by the hickok...

Re: That Time of the Year - Booking Next Year Stress!

Found a glitch at reserveamerica for fishcreek. Under date range availability if you select a site that is not available then click your back button you end up getting the date range view for ALL THE SITES instead a select range like you normally have. That may come in handy if you miss your preferr...

Re: That Time of the Year - Booking New Year Stress!

They seem to change right before I need to sign up. Fortunately I have a couple weeks to go so with luck they will get the bugs out before them. Keeping my fingers crossed, last year I did not get any of my prime choices on the first round and that was with 3 PCs a hard line on the work system. Now ...

Re: Our 'new' 1976 Scotty Sportsman!

get new gaskets for the exterrior lights (especially up high) and coat each with a light smear all around of clear silicone, so it will stay in great shape. Does it have a convection heater inside? They work great with little noise and plenty of heat.

Re: Camper upgrade

Do what I did, simply build some drawers into the cabinettes. Our unit is about 8 years old and was the same way. I eventually changed the big radio in it for a regular auto type and picked up yet another small place that was converted to a spice cabinette. What was nice when I built them in it took...

FC issues

Had an opportunity to talk to several people that had been campers at Fishcreek who will not be going any more and can understand their reasons. Here are the points they brought up and my experience with the issues 1) generators. Granted many are picking up Hondas and other quite units but there are...

Re: Reservation Proposal

i believe the biggest problem is the 9 month reserve window. Particularly now a days most people would not have a clue what they can do for vacation in 9 months. At one point the window was 3 months, then switched to 6 then finally to 9. I have seen sited vacant for weeks at a time (for example site...

Re: Boat 'Parking' for the Trading Post

I have parked at Donaldson's dock many times over the years with no problems, just be careful to use bumpers because the concrete and metal that sticks out can really do a job on your boat.

Re: Towing Vehicles

For years we tent camped and used our 15 ft Whaler with a 70 hp outboard as a trailer towed behind a 1983 Honda Accord that maxed at 76 hp. It was loaded with 4 people, all our equipment for 2 weeks (including wood back then) and on top of towing the whaler we had a 16 ft canvas canoe on top. Grante...

Re: Looking for help with a boat at FCP this week

May want to give the ignition wires a quick check. You may not have the main wire plugged into the coil correctly. Check for spark if none make sure the wires to the coil and distributer are seated. If just worked on they may have become unseated in transport

Re: Site 67 vs 247

67 can get a bit damp if there is a good amount of rain so if you choose that site be particular about where you put your tent and DON't put down a piece of plastic under the tent. The ground drains really well a plastic ground cloth will just hold in the water. If you have a boat bottom tent you sh...

Depending on water level it is around 8 feet. I need to not only drop the sail but pull the mast down on the sunfish to get under it.

Re: Supporting the Adirondack Recreational Trail Association

They put the ballist down to prevent mud holes and dirt mogol so the trail stays smooth. Of course the grade of ballist is a bit course for the average bicycle, probably best to use slag like on the Erie canal tow path. For the train speed it is set at 5 MPH because the track has not been upgraded t...
