Re: Wawbeek Buildings to Move to Tupper Lake

Didn't I see in the most recent Adirondack life that Wawbeek was up for sale? I hope not, after ripping that place out and now it is for sale? What you new comers have never experienced was the old bull point restaurant (you know that little motel you pass going to Tupper lake). They had the best ha...

Re: New Camper needs Help with Hookup info

What is really nasty are the newer forced air heating systems. We avoid using it at all costs except in a place that has hookups. Wish I could get to my parent's old trailer that had a convection heater. It could cook you out of the thing and used no electric. We have a gas refrig but the peizovolta...

Re: New Camper needs Help with Hookup info

If you want to avoid a generator. I would suggest two batteries. We have a regular Low discharge RV battery and then a cheap battery for a spare. When using Elect conservatively the RV battery will last about a week and a half. The local marina (Hickock's) will charge your battery overnight for arou...

Re: Site 190

The trick to knowing how to fish off of site 190 is how far out to. About 20 yards off that site is a sand bar that comes up to about 6 feet deep. I have seen big pike and bass caught off either side of that mid season (but fish early before the boat traffic picks up). If you do want some fun fishin...

Re: Happy New Year! 99 days to Go!

Have the 15 apart on the workbench for upgrades to beat the camper competition in August. Will see if it can make the Crabby Patty go any faster. I also have picked up some family camping pictures from the late 50s and early 60's that I will scan and share. Does anyone remember the raft that use to ...

Re: How far back can you go?

Here is one for those with fond memories of the way it was. Prior to the flush facilities they had privies at fishcreek. These were replaced with smaller facilities just like the two towards the beach area. Well, the original outhouses still exist and are being used by Donaldson's. There are two I k...

Re: Wi-Fi in the area

you can try Paul Smiths college. Last time I was there they had an open link and was pretty much available all round campus but try near the student center (big building on the water) or near the library. I like the student center, you can sit out on the deck or at a picnic table at water's edge.

Re: FCP History - Whippets and Mystery Can Graveyard

The cans were used in the 60s and were collected by a dump truck that came around (originally daily). They later put in concrete platforms (still around ) just off the road at the privys so you could bring your garbage there. I originally thought it was more of a cost saving exercise than one to kee...
