Re: To get you in the mood for boating

Could not resist on my trip up to a friends cottage at Donaldsons. Without waves or any boat traffic these little racers are a joy to run around in (notice how little wake they make). This is my son's boat which we just got done working on the outboard the 3 point stayed home. This past summer's mis...

To get you in the mood for boating

A chance to take the racing runabout out after FC closed for the season. No waves to contend with so just opened it up.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpEe25tDUug

Re: Lake trout fishing in Upper Saranac...

You may want to try lead or wire line to get down deep. However, it all depends on lake temps on where they are hanging as well as boat traffic. If you have a fish finder watch for both bait fish and schools of lakers. I find that they tend to sit where there are large changes in depth, which you fi...

What was really strange this morning was that I was attempting to get a site and appeared to get site 211 the system got to the point where I logged in filled out for my equipment and answered yes to the question then on to the next screen and nothing just the screen to check my personal info and su...

Re: Rail Explorers / Video

Lake Clear to Tupper on one of those peddle cars would be an all day event. If you can go to floodwood you can then rent a canoe of put yours there then paddle back to camp

Re: Rail Explorers / Video

The best ride would be from lake Clear to floodwood after that South from Tupper over the bridge towards Eagle crag lake is the next best. You can see the lake clear to floodwood trip on my youtube videos

Re: Cayuga State Park

Weeds are all dependent on how the year was but I have never had a problem with them. The main part of the lake is always open. Good fishing down near Taughannock falls park. Sit over 100 ft bottoms and drop egg sacks down to the thermocline or bottom for lake trout. Try to get a site on the lake si...

Re: Rail Explorers 2016

There is no way to stop the ATVs and dirt bikes from running the trails in the spring and fall. Continually policing the whole right of way would be way to expensive. the ATVs and cycles already run along the track and beside it now ripping up the ties and they are not stopped, plus there are those ...

Re: Boat Launch

I bring a shovel along to make the log less of an issue. Then pulling the Whaler out with the Mustang isn't that big of an issue. They could get more of the that Marston matting for free and put that back down. What was there was there for at least 50 years and worked fine for most of that. Yes ther...

Re: Rail Explorers 2016

What is strange is that it seems many people who signed the petition to rip up the rails think that the path will be paved. Actually it will be cinder laid over the old railroad bed. The bad thing is that ATVs will use the pathway making it really unusable for a bicycle and also increasing the neces...

Re: Rail Explorers 2016

Though from what I hear ripping up the tracks is still in dispute. For the rest of the trip that you currently cannot travel by rail and will be converted to a trail

Re: Interesting pending legislation

Actually it is a contract between you and New York State. Reserve America is an agent for the state. Your situation though sad happens from time to time when people get confused to when they need to leave. I have seen it happen in the past and also have seen people purposely stay on the site. Hopefu...

Re: Carrying Kayaks on the Vehicle

Prefer J racks simple because unless you cover the hole or have a drain they fill up with water in a saddle. Neither affect the handling of the car much more than normal. Use to carry a 16 ft canvas canoe around with a Porsche 914 without effort. Just be sure to tie the bow down to the front of the ...

Re: Structures on NY30

Sounds like you are referring to Bull Point. There use to be a small diner there and as you can see once a motel. Just north of that, a camp ground was set up with a bathhouse which is still there. There was swimming water access, docks and more trailer sites down the road on the opposite side of th...
