Re: Site question

We have stayed at site 60 before and we always have 2 vehicles, 2 tents, canopy, kayaks, etc.....

I recall that it is easier to back into the site if you come down the road from site 62,63,64 rather than the other way from site 59,58,57......

Re: Kayaking

You will probably have a hard time finding one at that price....At least one that will work the way you want it too....I would call Mountain Man and see if they have any used ones....

Re: Kayaking

What is your budget to spend? Do you have any kayak dealers near you? Most kayak stores have a way for you to try before you buy.....Next weekend is Paddlefest in Old Forge.....That would be the ideal place for you to try many different kayaks to find the one for you. Mountain Man has a store in Sar...

Re: Fishing in Rollins Pond

Those chub looking fish are called Fallfish. They are common up in the ADK's and other areas of Northern NY.

Have not caught any trout in Rollins. Mostly concentrate on Bass and Panfish.

Water Level?

How is the water level at Rollins this year? It was very high and no beaches last year when we were there around Father's Day weekend....We are coming back again for FD and wanted to know the current water levels.

Thanks,

Re: Raquette River

I have kayak fished from that launch ramp a few times. It is a really nice and peaceful stretch of river. Not sure how long it would take to paddle from that launch (i believe it is known as "the crusher" on maps) to the lake. You are heading "downstream". Normally, the water is ...

Re: Newbie at Rollins Pond

We have stayed at Buck's Pond before and I can tell you that you will like Rollins much better. I would say that most sites at Rollins are larger and further apart than most sites at Bucks. The HUGE difference is most sites at Rollins are right on the water. For the most part, Rollins will be just a...

Re: water temp??

Rollins was 61 degrees on Friday as measured with my stream thermometer. So, no, I would not suggest going splashing around in the water! The water level is also very high. I would say Rollins is at least 2, but more like 3 feet higher than normal. No beaches at any of the sites this past weekend. P...

Re: Hickocks

We have been at Rollins the last 2 Father's Day weekends and that is when the Rollins rental people bring their boats in. So, I assume that this year, they will probably be doing the same and bringing the boats in on the weekend of 6/15 & 6/16.

Rollins Pond Winter Access

Anyone know if the road all the way back to Rollins is plowed/maintained in the winter? We love camping and fishing at Rollins and would be estatic if we could get back there to go ice fishing! But, we only have a 2 wheel drive truck, so the road would have to be somewhat cleared for us.

Dave,

AWESOME!!!!

Can I please get a high-res, large size image of that last one with the picnic table? My wife would REALLY love that for her computer desktop background at work....

Thanks,

Phil
