Looking For a Site Fall 2020 Summer 2021?

If you are looking for a site this fall, or even next summer but missed out on the May 12, 2020 surprise opening of reservations for the whole 2021 camping season, then you might be interested in the latest expansion of the New York State Campsite Photos project. As many will know we already have a ...

Re: New York State Campgrounds to Reopen!

There seems to be more people camping this year. From all the reports and comments I have seen for NY and Ontario it really sounds like there are more people camping because a lot of other vacation and recreation options are a no go this summer. It sounds like a lot of newbies as well and there are ...

Re: Mice Invasion 2020

I’m on lots of camping groups. Everywhere across the ADKs there are tons of complaints about mice. You are not alone.

Re: Rv battery charging

Aren’t you charging the batteries via the trailer? You shouldn’t have to run your generator for hours to charge the batteries. We used to run our generator for about 1.5 hours a day max with our 18ft Airstreams. What are running? Water pump and fridge? What else?

Not sure what you mean by idling the generator?

Re: First timer suggestions???

You can check out all the photos of Rollins site 113 and site 245 to see which you like. I'd pick 113. It's a watersite, closer to the entrance, nice easy accessible private beach area too. 245 is not a watersite! PS. Vendors are now allowed to go through Fish Creek/Rollins. Doesn't mean all will re...

Re: DEC Campgrounds Now Reopen for 2020 Reservations

No doubt you will see lots of cancellations. I have cancelled a few so far. Between me and my son we have 3 reservations at Rollins and Fish Creek to cancel in July/August as our borders will likely be closed indefinitely (perhaps until 2021) while numbers are out of control in so many states. Lots ...

10 sites at Killbear, 10 sites at Grundy? or 5 sites at each? Big group!

Re: DEC Campgrounds Now Reopen for 2020 Reservations

Hmmm... might be interested! Do you need a site at Fish Creek or Rollins? I'm in the same boat. I have Rollins 202 for 11 nights as of July 26th and Fish Creek site 187 for 2 weeks starting Aug 5. My son has 187 for a week starting Aug 19.

I'll be at Killbear for 1 night next Sunday followed by 1 night at Grundy on the Monday, 3 at Killarney after that. Pog Lake this coming Monday for 4 nights... several others. Just back from Charleston Lake today and last week Bon Echo. Have you cancelled Grundy and Killbear in August yet?

Re: DEC Campgrounds Now Reopen for 2020 Reservations

Nope. No vendors this year. According to campers reports, not much is really different than any other year. Bathrooms and showers about the same as other years. No mention of COVID policies at the gates or postings on bathrooms etc. Campers are just aware of social distancing, some are wearing masks...

DEC Campgrounds Now Reopen for 2020 Reservations

In case you missed it, Reserve America reopened reservations this morning at 8:00:00am. Unfortunately if you didn't get a site, your chances at this point are slim as the campgroun pretty much booked up for the rest of the summer within the first 10 minutes.

Re: New York State Campgrounds to Reopen!

Enjoy everyone! We are tossing in the towel on the 2020 season since the Canadian/US border looks to be closed indefinitely. New Yorks COVID numbers are doing awesome but with so many states out of control, it looks like we are doomed to no ADKs this summer until they get a handle on things so the b...

Re: New York State Campgrounds to Reopen!

Nope. Closed till July 21. Could be extended beyond that with numbers rising. Mind you low numbers on the Ontario side and NY has done the best of any state. It’s the nation wide numbers still increasing that is the big problem. I won’t be surprised if the border is closed into the fall.
