During the winter season, Fish Creek is a great place to visit to hike or for cross country skiing around the ponds. Bring your hiking boots, skis or snowshoes and enjoy the 4 mile trip around the ponds.

Generally the road from site 1 to site 137 is plowed to allow snowmobile traffic to access Rollins Pond. The penninsula loop is not plowed, nor is the road from site 138 to 305. You may need to ski through the campsites breaking your own trail, rather than skiing on the road, depending on snow depth. The snow is often wind blow between sites 70 and 120 which can make ski travel difficult.

Wider backcountry skis may be more desireable for skiing around the ponds versus skinny or skate skis.

The Adirondack region of upstate New York is also home to several popular ski resorts including Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, Big Tupper (newly opened!) in Tupper Lake and Titus Mountain in Malone.
