Moffitt Beach advice?

Postby TheSpors » Tue Aug 13, 2013 11:50 am

We are planning a "last minute" trip to Moffit in September with our two little kids (1 and 3) and were looking for some advice. We want a waterfront site where the kids can play in the water/sand/mud at the site and where a bathroom isn't too far. We are tent camping. We have the option of 192, 197, 223, or 224. Any recommendations? Also, does anyone know if the rumor is true that the bathrooms have recently been updated? Heard in the past they were pretty gross...

I've started work on processing the campsite photos for Moffitt Beach. See http://campadk.com/campsitephotos.php?c ... tt%20Beach

I'll see if I can find the photos from 192 and up and get them coded for you so you can check out each site. I'll post back here shortly.

Cheers!

There you go. Photos for all of those sites are now available at http://campadk.com/campsitephotos.php?c ... tt%20Beach

I'd say 192 myself...

Yes I've been slowed up coding the rest of the photos since we seem to be camping most of the time.

Thank you so much for the pics!

Any chance the rest of the waterfront pics will be up anytime soon? All those sites seem pretty rocky... :? I may need to expand my search a little bit... But I think you're right: of those, 192 seems best suited for our needs.

Any word on the bathrooms?

Personally I don't know about the bathrooms. I do remember them as not so great, but that was about 6 years ago.

Most of those sites are pretty rocky. The ones close to the beach area might be better, or near the far point maybe?

Take a lot at the water sites between 229 and 233. There are more after 233 as well. This section is low to the water and shorelines are great. I uploaded photos for some of those sites just now.

If you have a handful of additional sites to check, just post them here and I'll see about coding those photos. I won't be finishing Moffitt till mid/late September as we'll be away quite a bit till then.

Cheers

I dont want to be too much of a pest...

How about 205, 246, 251? I'll try to extrapolate the others...

I'm really just trying to avoid the rocky dropoff. Maybe we need to consider a different campground altogether...

Or maybe instead of posting them, you could just give me a head's up? Are there any sites at Moffitt (of or near the ones I mentioned) that appear to have a sandy area at the site by the water? All the ones I've seen posted have just rocks.

Beach at Moffitt... 3A and the others nearby are not 'right on the water', but are by the beach. Lots of sand and water right across the road! Not really any sites at Moffitt with a sandy beach.

How about trying Northampton Beach instead? Many sandy beachy sites there!

Head to Cranberry and pick something like Site 120

, 121, 123 or 97.

What about Lewey Lake or Limekiln?

Eight Lake Site 21

even.

Meacham Lake has some sandy beach like sites too.

Of course you could head to Fish Creek... many sandy beach sites there! :moose:
