Ranger Jill on Steriods

Postby CampADK » Mon Apr 12, 2010 6:11 pm

Well getting close to finishing Ranger Jill 2.0, aka Ranger Jill (on Steriods). So anyways the new version is now live. I just have to complete some of the knowledge base over the next few weeks.

Features of the new version:

- utilizes real-time analysis to figure out what you are looking for
- more intelligence at figuring out what you are looking for, as you type (no need to press the 'ask' button any longer)
- all the information is displayed on the screen, rather than just having 'Jill' talk about the subject
- option to turn audio off (ie Jill doesn't speak)
- many more photos as well as new maps are integrated into the answers
- videos are integrated as well, although I don't have many hooked in... so far
- fairly complete integrating of the campsite guide as well so you can ask such things as 'what is Site 123
Click for more info!

like?'

I have a few known bugs to fix, as well as completion of some of the questions, Hope to be done by mid May.

Other features will have to wait until the fall since we will be travelling/camping a lot this summer. I do plan to do a photo blitz for the Rollins Pond Campsite Guide, likely in May before the campground fills up! Hopefully the blackflies will give me a break! ha ha.

I asked her if she was married, she just gave me some crap about yoo hoos.

Can't even give me a straightforward answer, what a tease.

Another great addition, thanks Dave.
She told me what black flies were and which sites had the least traffic.
Can't wait to ask more...

I've fixed a number of issues, particularly when using Ranger Jill to view campsite details and photos. For example 'show Site 100
Click for more info!

' or simply 'Site 100
Click for more info!

' now shows all site details and photos... well for all web browsers EXCEPT Internet Explorer. IE is so full of quirks, bugs and limitations that it is always a battle to get it to work with some of the newer technology. So (at least for now) if you are using any decent browser OTHER THAN Internet Explorer you get the full features. For those still on Internet Explorer.. well.. what can I say... upgrade to a more advanced browser such as Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, Opera, Netscape, or Mozilla or just use the Campsite Guide to view campsite details and photos.

RJ's knowledge base is about 90-95% complete. Based on results so far she is able to provide detailed answers to a good 95% of campers questions.
