There won't be anyone at the gate until opening day. Once the campground is open there is usually someone there for a few hours, but only during the day (early season) to allow campers to register. Think it is something like 10am to 12pm.

Look like we'll skip opening week-end... :(

Setting-up the camp under the cold rain + being unsure about stream condition wins over what should be a very nice Sunday :(

Let's hope weather will be better next weekend.

I'm hoping we can go next weekend or shortly after during good weather. Our early season trailer is being worked on next week, but we'll be itching to take it out camping real soon! Will be watching the weather!

At the moment, the 17-19th weekend weather look almost like a cut & paste of this next weekend !

I'll keep checking the forum next week to see if there's any update or pictures provided by early campers.

In the meantime I found a couple of possible kayak day-trip destinations close to Montreal this weekend - mostly small streams.
But none with good camping option next to the water... Most camping sites only opens in May over here and winter camping options are next to frozen lakes.

FCP is definitively the best spot I know for early camping with water access on-site since the stream (and the first campsites next to the bridge) are usually accessible many days before the pond itself is free of ice.

Looking at the pics I have the feeling the stream at FCP is probably OK up to Copperas Pond or Little Square Pond. Maybe even Floodwood...

Maybe we'll give it a try leaving Montreal early Saturday morning instead of Friday for a single night of camping.
Lake access for campsites close to the bridge should be ok.

I will consult the other half of the team tonight :)

Sounds good! Be sure to take your camera and take a few photos for us! Also if you happen to wander by the amphitheatre area, it would be great to get a report on how the snow is doing on 'Fish Creek Peak'. Hopefully we get there before the snow melts and I can do some laps (skiing) up on the 'mountain' lol!

Interestingly, I see that FCP is opening Site 51

- Site 80

on Monday Apr 20th... usual to open a section on a Monday. I'm guessing however it has to do with the bathroom in that area of A loop which they were working on this winter and it probably won't be ready until then. Just happy to see that they do open some sites early for those of us who don't mind 'cool' weather.

Hi Dave,

Pictures will have to wait another week :( ...

I just spoke with someone at the park and he went to check the stream access close to the bridge.
Part of the stream is unfrozen but he doesn't think we could go very far with the kayaks.
