Water

Does anyone know how many feet to the water tap from #281? Just curious if a hose would make it.

Thanks

There is a water tap on 282, not sure how many feet, maybe 100 or so... :D

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought most (if not all) of the water taps around the ponds didn't have threading to allow for a hose hookup? I know I saw some people had rigged up something temporary to allow it though.
The best option is probably to fill up at the water filling stations :watertap: in the park, I'm sure Ranger Jill could point those out for ya. (I'm a tenter, no idea off-hand about the filling stations!)

People use what is called a "water thief". It is very easy to make or inexpensive to buy.

Not sure but is a bit of a stretch. My In-laws have been on 282 and can run the water from the spigot to the pop-up easily to fill the tanks, and I know someone did run it once from 282 to 280, but they had a very long hose.... I would venture to say it is at least 100 ft.

Easiest spot IMHO to fill up is right next to the volley ball court, opposite to the the amphitheater. I fill up on the way into our site on checkin day. Just don't be blocking me a week from Friday at noon. :D

They really need to fill that area around the fill tap. Its one deep mud pit right now so we ended up parking out almost on the road to fill last time.

A simple water thief. Cut off one end of the garden hose, buy a clamp and use the rest of the length to fill the trailer. That's only if you just have a hose laying around you never use.

+1

A water thief is standard equipment in most any seasoned RVer's kit. Those that camp regularly at any DEC park in NYS learn quickly about the need for a water thief.

New to the board, but I had to say what an invaluable resource this board is! I was just looking for info on whether a water thief would work on the spigots at Fish Creek and happened upon this thread. We are staying on Site 282

next week, so this info is perfect! I thought I remembered seeing some spigots with a tapered end and wondered if that would not work with a water thief, but now I know I don't have to worry! Thanks so much!
