Three Nor'-easters in 2 weeks?????

Postby d_s_144 » Tue Mar 13, 2018 10:30 am

Well, FCP may be opening in 24 days, but you may need a sled if you plan to make your way on the property. It's snowing like heck in the Albany area again today. WHEN WILL IT END? I am over you, Old Man Winter, BEAT IT! I know the old saying states that March comes "In like a lion, out like a lamb", but wow, all I see is the lion part right now. Where is the lamb and when does it get here?

We will just have to embrace the weather a little longer I guess. I'll be in Lake Placid the first week in April and will most likely head over to check out Fish Creek on opening day. I post a report and photos when I return.

Looks like I might get another shot at camping and skiing at Fish Creek again! Need some sort of activity when the snow, cold and ice prevent kayaking, and biking...

Hey Dave:

I guess if FCP gives you lemons, make lemonade! I would find it difficult to pack my XC skis and not drag my boat up, but when the ponds are frozen in mid-April, you're left with little choice. I think I would have soiled myself when I saw the huge snowbanks at the entrance. Hardcore, pal!

I was there 17 days ago and there was a foot of snow on the ground and 10-20 more inches coming! Drove thru and lamented at the time that FCP and RP would not be suitable for camping by April 6th........Maybe May 6th.....

We will be by next Friday so I'll post a report back here... take a few photos even. Hoping to go camping in a few weeks, as soon as it warms up a bit!
