Wood in 2018?

Hi. Is the wood truck delivering to Rollins this year? Thanks.

Rollins Site 41

Hi. We booked site 41 because it was the only water site available. Feeling guilty because it has handicap access (this was not clear on Reserve America) but it is what it is. Site pictures show a gravel ground so we were wondering how bad was the gravel. Does anyone know if we can stake a small ten...

Re: CampADK Trip Report - May 20-22, 2016

Thanks for the great info Dave. Glad to see a local business trying to make it - will definitely visit them. Unfortunately we have had to deal with too many old crumbling fire places at Rollins. I still do not understand why people insist on using the fire place to split wood?! Cone Cabin will serve...

Re: New Screen Room

Hi. We have this one (as above, not cheap): https://www.campmor.com/c/pahaque-wilderness---10-x-10-screen-room-w-awnings The beauty of this one is that you can get a rainfly and even a floor so it will be as watertight as a tent. In addition you can play with the awnings in multiple configurations. ...

Re: Site 135

Hi. We camped there years ago. Other than sites 138 and 132, the sites in that area are pretty tight. I don't think you can fit the trailer, vehicle and large tent. Good luck.

Re: A great place to eat in Saranac Lake

Thanks for info on the Deli / Pub. We try and support as many businesses in Saranac and Tupper Lakes as possible. And Little Italy in Tupper is just as good as the one in Saranac. Sometimes you just need a good pizza! They have actually been there for several years.

Re: A great place to eat in Saranac Lake

Yes - many times. We have even stayed there. Very nice but we find the German menu not too exciting. The Left Bank Cafe in Saranac Lake has a very interesting menu and is a nice change of pace. The Downhill Grill in Saranac Lake is also worth trying.

Hotel Saranac

The hotel is undergoing a full renovation/restoration. It may be open summer 2015. Let's hope there is a restaurant for the special night out.

Re: A great place to eat in Saranac Lake

Thanks we will definitely stop in next summer. We have been passing it for years and have never stopped to check it out. Always looking for a local place to eat dinner.

Site / PopUp Reserved for July 5 - 12, 2015

Some water sites still available and pop ups too. Unfortunately only 1 week next year. Site 92 (new for us) but still in our favorite area. Can't wait.

Back Fromm 2 Weeks at Rollins

Spent 2 glorious weeks at Rollins on site 110. The new "wood/ice woman" had great nicely split hardwood (sorry to see wood is up to $8 per stack). The site was spotless (clean). There seemed to more more staff walking around all day. Bathrooms seemed better maintained. My only gripe is the...

Re: Site 113?

Hi - very similar to 110 (where we will be starting July 6 ). The site is not large but it has nice trees and a bed of pine needles on the ground. I believe it is level. True, you can't see the water but you face SW so you get nice sun all afternoon. The water is excellent for a swim. Hope you enjoy...

Re: Good Maps of Fish Creek & Rollins Pond ?

The classic "Adirondack Canoe Map" is still available, and only about $7. Very outdated as far as camp sites go but the rest is good. The newer "Adirondack Paddler's Map" is very nice and water proof but pricey at over $20. As others have said - the routes are all still there and...

Re: High Peak Treats/Ice/Wood Runs 2013

White beard - yup, that was him. Well we missed the 2012 and I don't remember seeing him in 2011 so I guess 2010 was his last year. He was always there at the perfect time with fresh ice for our evening cocktails. Thinking back I also remeber and miss the wood truck where the guy drove and the woman...
