Re: Heat for campers

One thing to add...if you're tenting...I put our lantern in the tent prior to getting ready for bed. Usually for like a half hour or so. It knocks down the dampness and adds a bit of heat. I carefully put the handle down when I set it in on the tent floor making sure there is good clearance around i...

Re: Camper courtesy.

Sylvie's last post had me thinking of a conversation I had with a park person a couple years ago. We were talking about some of the interesting rules and laws that come along with camping. Needless to say, this guy isn't working at Rollins or FCP anymore...but he was local to Tupper Lake. Anyway, he...

Re: Fall Reservation Schedule Changes 2015

Thanks for the info!! My cousin and I are just decided on a girls camping weekend Oct 2nd. Do you know what the access to Rollins is that time of year? Can we drive through or should we plan on walking or biking?

Thanks!

Re: Camper courtesy.

#4 is my biggest pet peeve... Abide by the quiet hours, especially in the morning. (This year I had 3 sets of campers next to me and the last group, 3 women-hiking were extremely loud at 5:30am, I counted them closing car doors 17 times before I calmly got up and said they were being disruptive and ...

Well that's good to know. I haven't used my tent a lot...something I'll keep an eye out for.

Re: New Tent

I have a Cabela's West Wind Tent. I'd be curious to see if they stand by their product like LL Bean or Northface does. Also I think REI has a really good policy. So, I guess what I am saying, I don't have a model recommendation but I recommend going with a store or brand that stands behind their pro...

Re: Site 135

I think you'll be fine. And just FYI, if you do have a problem there are sites that the staff can assign to you. They are overflow sites...examples are 175, 178, 207 & 210.

Re: Saranac Lake Winter Carnival

A couple pictures from the Winter Carnival. I was very dissapointed by the firework display Saturday night, it lasted about 7 minutes. They had a huge crowd and it was over before we could really enjoy it. All in all though, the Ice Palace was cool!

Re: Saranac Lake Winter Carnival

I'm getting itchy for my weekend up in Saranac/LP. I'll be there the first weekend of the Carnival with a bunch of friends. Can't wait!

Re: Cross Country Skiing in the Area

Dave,

What a great video! You two look great skiing around the ADK. And I've have a crappy day and this picked up my spirits. Only two weeks away and I'll be Placid and Saranac for the Winter Carnival. Hope all is well!

Can't wait for camping season to start!

Re: Hybrid trailers in Fish Creek

Hi Karen! There is certainly a lot to consider...here are some of my thoughts Pop-up: Can be very air-y, but you do not have the conveniences of a hybrid or travel trailer such as the quick set up, fridge/freezer..., 'real' spring-mattresses available Hybrid: The mattresses are, as far as I have see...

Re: CampADK Trip Report - Memorial Weekend 2014

Thanks Dave for all the great info! My dad will be happy to know the boat launch was improved. Also, if you're a fan of Casa Del Sol in Saranac, they should be reopening in about two weeks. Looks like Camping Season 2014 is off to a great start!

Re: Maneuvering Your Trailer

Seems cool...I have a special knack for getting lined up on the first or second try...usually drives my dad crazy because it takes him several tries.
