Re: Ontario Park Trip

I didn't hit Killarney yet. It's def at the top of my list. I hear the paddling and just how pristine the area is , is 2nd to none. I need to hit it on a very warm stretch next year. It's so much colder normally than even Killbear 2 hours south.

Ontario Park Trip

Hi guys, did an Ontario Park loop in mid September to take advantage of the 75+ degree crazy nice weather. Started at Bon Echo per Dave's recommendation over the years, hit Rock Lake in Algonquin then on to Arrowhead by Huntsville. Loved Bon Echo, love Algonquin, Rock Lake is my favorite in Algonqui...

Re: Mosquitoes

Yep, as bad as most years in July, but relatively normal. No way bad enough to leave early. Last year was an outlier due to how dry it was. I'd even say less bad this year than 2 years ago. That's my opinion, anyhow. I'm from WNY as well and mosquitoes are rough here this year. Shouldn't be a shock ...

Re: With all of the rain

Got back from FC and did the Rollins kayaking loop and I have never seen the water so high. I could not see any of the beaches and the creek connecting Rollins to Floodwood was so high there were no rapids to speak of and you were nowhere near scraping bottom.

Re: How's the weather?

Just got back from a 6/30-7-8 trip with 12 families and weather was great. Was a little worried due to all the non-stop rain over the last month, but I think it rained 3 of the 8 days. And 2 of those were for 20 minutes overnight and hard enough to just make the ground annoyingly soaked, but sun and...

Re: Reservation Changes Ahead for Out of State Residents?

Yeah my group managed all 11 sites 220-230 6/30-7/9 but that takes some serious coordination on my part and a small army clicking each day.

Re: Limekiln Lake questions

Oh yeah, if anyone has stayed at old forge campground resort give me ur opinions on that place. KOA type places r never my preference but it may be our best Old Forge choice.

Limekiln Lake questions

Hey all, trying to figure out if we want to do this park with a group of 6 families. Kids love hopping in and out of the water so my biggest question is how is the bottom in the lake at the lakefront sites? Mushy like Nicks Lake where I have stayed or hard sand/rock like Fish Creek? Kids will avoid ...

WATER AND BLACK FLIES

Hey all, heading down Friday for 8 days with a big group. How's the water temp and black fly presence? Hoping the last couple days jumped the water temp a bit.

Re: CLIFF JUMPING

Appreciate the tip but I'm looking more at the 30-60 foot jumps. Was hoping for a good public launch area to get to Pulpit Rock or Bluff Island relatively quickly by canoe. Hoping someone knows. And couldn't agree more about FC, love that place and the surrounding area. Made the 5 1/2 hour trip 2 ti...

CLIFF JUMPING

Hi All, been to Fish Creek and the area numerous times but this year we are looking for a good place to Cliff Jump in the area. We have 9 sites in Mid-July and the group and myself are looking for a new adventure  . I know about Split Rock Falls and that is a pretty good one. Any input about ...

Re: Killbear Provincial Park

Yep, Algonquin is one of my go to places, too. Just got back from a 4 day Algonquin trip on that warn stretch we just had. Man, that place is beautiful in the Fall. Though I'm partial to Rock / Coon Lake. I prefer the off the main highway campgrounds.
